• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Been a while. I figure someone here knows how to get ahold of Tim. I no longer have his contact info.
Phone number would be best.

I need to alert Tim of something pretty serious going down the pipeline in pickupland....

Yes that's a serious matter alright and I'm picking the forgery can be done all too easily unfortunately.

Thanks guys, I'll try the email address and hope it still works.
I may have a number for him somewhere in an old PC that's no longer being used.

Anyways, here's the deal..
I was contacted today by a dealer of mine in Nevada who told me someone had come in trying to sell some Tim's and another brand. The dealer didn't buy them, but were given the opportunity to verify their legitimacy later one when someone responded to a Craigslist ad and did buy them.
Dealer contacted the maker of the other pickups, who verified they were not legit.

The forgery information comes from three different people so far.... the "other" builder, the dealer, and a person familliar with the forger who had broken ties.

Nevada...:hmm

Yep, pretty easily given that we more or less use the same components for the smaller builders.

There's not the $$ in this to make it worthwhile for anyone to want to forge the pups surely.
It is really bad this sort of stuff going down.

Forging Tims or other high $ makes? Sure, when they're selling for as much as they do, you bet it would be worthwhile for a winder to do if they're desperate.... The components are already there, the work is already being done just stick a different lable on 'em or mark them similarly. Why do you think people forge PAFs?

That's not so cool.
What's up with Nevada?

Forger located in the LV area.

I just finally put my PE Tim's EdA #118,
8.38K in my Korina Explorer and it worked out Perfectly.
It is a very light, soft, porus White Limba.
It is All Korina and when You tap the wood and listen to it ring
with your ear on the body... it is a bit spongey.
So the extra brightness of the strong magnet really worked well, along
with good Lows and Low-Mids...no harsh Upper Mids.
I am happy I did not sell it. It actually sounds a lot like my High Gauss
Holmes I have in a very light, but harder All Mahogany guitar.

Will Boggs now lives in Las Vegas. Just another logical step in that company's long history.

Wow.. just don't see what the attraction is with Vegas. I spent six weeks there earlier this year. Seems like a real shithole place to me. Plastic Fantastic.
