I just got this back from my luthier who did a fantastic job of tuning up and photo documenting the guitar. From the photos you can see the serial number, lack of neck tenon in the pickup cavity and the pots which all come back to 1974. This was originally a Goldtop that was refinished into a Blacktop with black metallic nitro after the routing of the neck pickup was done and the 70's era Dimarzio Super Distortion was added. The mini humbucker appears to be original. When I received it, it had a harmonica bridge on it which will be included with the sale (also have receipt from 1977 stating when the harmonica bridge was added) but I had the tech put on a ABR. The headstock has NOT had a break and the tuners appear to be original double ring Klusons. The selector switch is original as is all the guitar's plastic. The input jack is not original and is gold...why...I don't know. I'm pretty sure it has been refretted with original "fretless wonder" frets. It weighs in at 9 lbs 2.2 oz and the frets measure .841 at the 1st and .962 at the 12th...a lightweight for this era and a fatter neck carve than most.

The guitar is a killer weight with a comfortable neck. I surprised at how clean the guitar is as far as checking. It has little to none. But...the guitar was played ALOT. Where it would rest on your leg, the finish is worn down to the wood. The finish is also worn down to wood on the top and bottom of the neck, but not down the middle of the neck. You can tell the original owner cherished this guitar and played it for years, on his lap and never subjected it to temperature changes. It's just got all the wear in the right places but no excessive amounts of dents/dings/checking you normally see from a 47 year old guitar.

I'm sure I missed something...oh yeah...comes with a non original fitted case. I can't express how cool the vibe is on this guitar and how it sounds. I would keep it (and I just may) but I scored a '70 Goldtop from another forum member 2 months ago and I can't justify having both (oh yes I can).

$2900.00 includes PP fees and overnight FedEx

Initial photos here but I have a bunch more from when the tech took it apart https://www.lespaulforum.com/forum/showthread.php?216273-1974-Les-Paul-Deluxe-Black
