I remain on the hunt for an affordable 1965 or 1966 ES-3x5.

I just saw an ad on Craigslist yesterday for an original 1966 ES-345 (hopefully not taken down yet):

Craigslist Link

I don't think it's a 345, since no split parallelogram inlays.
I don't think it's a 335 because of the Varitone and first fret inlay
Maybe a 355?
Maybe a fugazi?

I contacted the seller requesting more info/pics, not expecting a reply from what I thought was likely a fake ad.
Surprisingly got a response within a few hours stating that it had been sold.
Of course it was.
A day late and a dollar short per usual.

I've attached the only picture from the CL ad...

How much were they asking? I'm just curious because it was sold.

Here's the copy from the ad:

1966 USA Gibson ES-345 - $3,999
Vintage 1966 Gibson ES-345 - Not A Reissue.
Made in the USA $3,999. or OBO.

Also have a Fender Hot Rod De Ville with 4 tens for $350.00.

Just the one picture as posted above.

It looks like an ES-345 with a ES-355/Les Paul Custom fingerboard and Grover Rotomatics tuners. It could modifications as well as a custom order.

The secret with 66 ES345 is the crown placement, lower than a 64, higher than a 67. It's the only year the crown was at the midpoint.
