• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

I am looking for a bound long guard for my 82 es reissue. I think all the pics I have seen have bound guards, is this correct? Who does a good repro long guard without charging hundreds?

Do you really mean a 'bound' long guard? Or...do you mean a 'beveled' long guard?
I got a replacement beveled guard (5-ply) for my '85 ES dot Here. I had to work a bit at it, to get it to fit correctly! But in the end...it turned out OK. I do believe the gap you see at the neck pup, should be at the bridge pup instead. But, if you try to move the guard up...the neck screw hole will be way off! It took me quite a while to find one that fit & looked good enough to keep. I'm pretty sure they are made by Chandler.

Well yes I have seen Parts is parts, allparts, guitarparts resource, gr guitars chandler and wd's wide beveled pg's. Is this correct for a '59? most of the pics I have seen look like a bound guard. Experts, real deal 58/9 owners chime in please. BTW what was the fit issue with the "parts is" guard?

Getting the guard to allign w/ both pups & trying to get the screw to go in the old hole. Positioning the 'block' for the bracket was key! If it's off a bit, it makes it tougher for the guard to go where it should. There is a slight bit of flexibility..but not much.

(borrowed pics here :wah )
