• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

So... Les Paul's website recently uploaded his guitar collection and there's something I've never seen before: an SG shaped doubleneck (similar to the EDS-1275 launched in '63). But this predates the SG! Was this the world's first look into the updated Les Paul model? And it's a guitar from Les himself!

The description on the website reads: "1959 Gibson Doubleneck 6 and 12 string highly modified with mic input on upper cutaway"

That's what they all looked like until 63, unless you had a 6 tenor/ 6, or a bass/guitar model, or a 6 string/mandolin model.

Here's a picture library of 1958-1962/3 Custom EDS instruments from Gibson: (Scroll down!) [Note: They were hollow and had carved spruce tops!]
