• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

No- not that shrinkage- way too cold to swim this time of year on the Cape- but I notice the binding on the horn of my 2018 R9 is now narrower than the slot it fits in. Did it shrink or was I so captivated by the top that I failed to notice when it arrived?

If you mean inside the cutaway it's normal and that's a little sliver of maple you see, as opposed to some Les Pauls where they have thicker binding inside that cutaway. There's a recent thread here somewhere about it.

Not what I am seeing- i know the maple fill you are talking about. I said narrow and I should have said deep. The mahogany of the back sticks out further than the Royalite.

That is how they are made. After spraying color, the color is scraped off the binding and the binding is not always the same level as the body edge.
