• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Can someone tell me what the numbers represent on the back of the head stock?
Pertaining to day month and year.
I have a std.plus and a r8.
Thanks Guys,
Cheers

For standard Gibsons, the serial, 8 or 9 digits long, the first and fifth are the year, 2, 3, 4 are the day of the year, and the remainder are the number that day.
so, 103081013 means that it was the 30th day of 2018, and it was the 1013 guitar that day.
|I'm not 100% on the |Rs, but I think the first digit indicates what reissue it is, ie, your R8 should start with 8, and the rest are the number in the series.

That sounds about right.
