Pre-Fender Fender?

This guitar is being advertised as a pre-Fender guitar made in 1945 before the Fender company started. However I cannot find any information about that. It seems the only guitars Leo Fender was designing around 1945 were lap steel guitars. Could anyone shed some light on this or is the seller wrong?

This looks like some Japanese crap guitar I had way back in '73. Had the worst neck dive ever I've seen on a guitar.

Before the Esquire/Tele launch, the only guitars Fender made were the prototypes for the Tele, and the ones that don't look like the final production model had three-a-side head.
The guitar in the pictures is definitely not a Fender.
Looks like a 70s/80s Kay /Satallite/Other cheap Japanese POS entry level fire poker.

Yep, as posted already, that's a 60s/70s japanese guitar. Common and cheap through department store catalogs like Sears and Wards.

|Looks like a Silvertone or something to me.
It may have been in the room with a Fender once, but that's as close as it is.

Inhave a 60s Japanese Beltone with that neck and string retainer. The body shape is different, burt the knobs are the same.

So not a Fender that it hurts.

Not a Fender. Not 40's. That is a 60's Japanese guitar. It looks like a Guyatone or Kawai built guitar to me. Could have come with any one of a hundred different names on the headstock.

talk about pre fender fender.. i met an old couple at their yard sale in the late nineties, they said they were friends with leo fender and used to have dinners and play cards with him and his wife. they told me leo built a guitar amp for them(the husband) before he started building amps to sell. they had it in the house but wouldnt let me see it. and it wasnt for sale. i wanted to go back again to try to see it but never did.
