Thanks for sharing your story, 'seafood'!

Man... that tone!!!

AFAIK, Peter used a Fender Dual Showman stack in 1969 and 1970.

This guy is using the same amp and gets pretty close to that tone:

But the playing (not to mention singing too!)... in those 1970 concerts Peter was really out of this world. My favourite blues singer and guitarist, easily.

I have heard recordings of one of those shows and his tone is definitely not what it normally was. He got that amazing, overdriven power tube Marshall gain, reminiscent of the earlier Mayall period before he found his own voice. Mac must've shared the backline that night with the other bands? I'd love to hear more.

I have to look it up, but I think that Fleetwood Mac had an endorsement deal with Orange Matamp in 1968 and used them on the US tour the same year. Green used the Matamp Series 2000 with a Matamp Reverb Tank through matching 4x12 cabs loaded with Fanes. They again brought the Orange backline to the States for the 1969 tour, but apparantely during the tour Green fancied a change and starting using the Fender Dual Showmans.

This is that Matamp amp:

I hold Danny Kirwan in high regard. His vibrato was so close to Peters that when listening to their live recordings I often can't tell them apart. He lived a difficult life much of it in obscurity his passing went unnoticed and brought a tear to my eye when I heard, but his contribution to British Blues, and early Fleetwood Mac will forever be his legacy to us..

Danny was so great live!!! his focus and playing was fierce.....and a good foil for Peter's playing too......it's sad how things played out...for Him...in music and in life. we can all look back and enjoy that great music....today......thanks to these wonderful guitarists.
