• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

I've always thought that the bridge on my R7 is rather high considering that I run a very low action and the neck angle doesn't look too bad.

I don't know what the significance is but my 2004 R7 must have a much shallower neck profile than yours.

My bridge pickup is roughly level with the pickup surround on the bass side and as it's slightly angled for better volume balance is raised slightly above on the treble side. It looks like most of the 1958s in the Beauty of the Burst. This is with a lowish action BTW, so take this into account.

For reference my 04 Gold Top has a full sounding, bright acoustic response with remarkable sustain compared with my other Gibson's.

Here is a 1960 with what must be a steep neck angle due to how high the bridge is. It has the Snap ,Crackle, Pop sound at the end when he plays with some overdrive

Can I ask what year your own R7 is?

Sorry Victory Pete I got you mixed up with 'sunking 101', my mistake!

I'd love an R0, as while Im comfortable with the larger neck of my R7 I've played and really enjoyed the
slimmer profile of the 1960 reissue.

The notion that the 1960 may have an increased neck angle is news to me as a luthier, so it's of some interest.
Given your experience (with two R0s) do you have a feeling one way or the other on this subject ?

I am not sure what to conclude about the angle. Not sure if they even change from 58 to 60. I think it may have more to do with neck thickness. I am a Luthier also, check this out. http://victoryguitarshop.com/
